Paramecia learn a discrimination task

Armus and colleagues reported that Paramecium caudatum could be trained in a discrimination learning task using electrical stimulation as reinforcement.

As reported in: Armus, Montgomery, Jellison (2006). Discrimination Learning in Paramecia (P. caudatum). The Psychological Record. doi:10.1007/bf03396029

Stentor's hierarchy of avoidance

Dexter, Prabakaran and Gunawardena confirmed a 1906 report that Stentor roeseli responds to repeated stimulation with a hierarchy of bending, ciliary change, contraction and detachment, with contract-vs-detach like a fair coin toss.
